Fully biodegradable and recyclable, plastic-free and fluorine-free, packaging thanks to Papkot's paper coatings

Introducing a ceramic coating that provides paper the same packaging properties of plastic, with no plastic.

What is Papkot?

While in the oceans we have almost more plastic than fish, preserving the environment, protecting our planet, reducing the ecological footprint of packaging is more essential than ever.

At Papkot, we are pioneers and explorers on a quest to eradicate plastic from packaging and everyday life.

Human and planet safety comes first

99.99% recyclable

Papkot coated papers have a recyclability rate of 99.9% according to the most advanced European standards.

There will be no coarse reject, flakes, or stickies.

For countries that can afford a waste management system, it's a home run!

Fully biodegradable

Let's keep it simple: paper is a biodegradable material because it's made of a sugar named cellulose.

Papkot has no effect on the natural biodegradability of paper: that's why Papkot makes your paper packaging truly biodegradable.

As a result, it can be composted in your backyard.

Fluorine Free

Take out forever chemicals from your paper.

We were dreaming of oil and grease resistant paper with no PFAS, no plastic, no acrylates, no SBR.

In 2022, we made it.
Grease, oil, glycerol resistant pure paper.

Plastic Free

As simple as it looks, there is NO plastic. At all.
In recent years, we've been inundated with new plastic materials derived from seaweed, potatoes, lettuce, milk, ...
Papkot is made of ceramic, so there is no plastic in it: no plastic, no bullshit, no harm.

Papkot OS

We call it Papkot OS because it works like iOS, or a smartphone: there's an app for any need you have.

Not only can we eliminate plastic from packaging forever, but with Papkot OS we can also eliminate all toxic chemicals: varnishes, release liners, SBR, fluorinated compounds, and so on.

The only limit is your creativity.

Think features, not layers

Papkot OS

Consider a Lego-like chemistry in which we add a different building block for each feature we want to obtain.

This is how Papkot™ works.
At the end of our collaboration, you'll have one tailor-made solution that you simply pour into your coating or printing machine to get a paper with the performances you need.

It works on almost any paper

Papkot coatings work effectively on almost any paper. It is compatible with both virgin or recycled fibers.

Our collaboration will always begin with identifying the best support.

Papkot OS can be applied before printing or after printing, on the web or the sheets.

For all your waterproof paper needs

Make paper water resistant to different grades of wet, from rain to immersion over months and years.

The surface of the paper remains unchanged to the eye and touch, but the fibers will become water repellant.

Moisture barrier and Oxygen

Coming in 2023!

WVTR: the nirvana of packaging materials

Paper is a porous material, which means it lets air through.
Obviously, a material that lets air in is not a good choice for packaging moisture-sensitive goods.

So far, Papkot is improving the moisture barrier by at least half compared to uncoated paper.
Improving these performances is our top priority.

Work with us to get it done faster!

WVTR ≤ 5g/(m²×d)

Not only barriers

Beyond plastic, we are committed to our mission of replacing toxic chemicals

Many toxic materials are used unconsciously or recklessly in packaging and the printing industry in general.
In the coming years, authorities around the world will ban materials like epoxy or SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) from varnishes, and Papkot OS can already replace the majority of them.

Some of these materials are not only (potentially) toxic, but also costly and non-sustainable. Release liners are the pieces of paper left over after you peel off a label to stick it somewhere else. The silicone coating on typical label release liners renders them non-recyclable, non-biodegradable, hence expensive to dispose. It is estimated that nearly 1,200,000 tons of liners are dumped into landfills in North America each year. Papkot manufactures a coating that makes the release liner completely recyclable and biodegradable by using only cellulose and silica.

Fire resistant coatings – Fireseal

Sustainable fire-resistant paper is in high demand in a variety of industries.
Papkot made several coatings that can be used online or offline and have different levels of flame retardancy or flame resistance.

Again, we made it using only pure cellulose and silica, nothing else.
